A Sparkle Kitty Crossover!

So, you’ve stumbled upon the whimsical card game Sparkle*Kitty, where cute characters and enchanting spells reign supreme. We here at SparkleKitty.com could not resist such a perfect name, so we decided to have some fun and give it a play! Let’s break it down, shall we?

The Good Stuff About Sparkle*Kitty

First things first, let’s talk about what makes SparkleKitty so darn irresistible. One glance at the colorful artwork and adorable characters, and you’re hooked. From the sassy SparkleKitty herself to the charming princesses, each card is a work of art that draws you further into the magical realm. But it’s not just about looks; the gameplay itself is a delightful mix of strategy and silliness.

Once you understand the rules (which, admittedly, can be a bit tricky, at first), you’ll find yourself easily teaching others how to play. There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching your most serious friend say something like “Fancy Twinkle Ducky.” And let’s not forget about double plays (when you have a matching card on the spellbook and you can play it whenever it is applicable), which were named “the best part about the game.”

As you and your friends become more familiar with the game, it’s fun to allow speed to become a factor. Say you had a card that could double but the next person plays a card. Well, you missed out!

We played Sparkle*Kitty a few times with a few different number of players and we all agreed — it’s the most fun when you have six or more players gathered around the table. It’s the kind of game that is sure to bring lots of laughs.

The Less-Good Stuff

Now, onto the downsides. Ever wonder why Sparkle*Kitty’s so mad at those princesses? Yeah, me too. The backstory is a bit of a mystery. Learning the rules can be a bit of a headache, especially at first. It would be nice if there were a QR code to scan to bring us to an explainer video. Additionally, the different colored backs on the spell cards are a bit confusing.

The spell card is pretty small, so crowding around it in big groups can be a tad challenging. The special cards are a fun added element but can take a few plays to absorb, even with the instructional iconography.

Spicing Things Up with House Rules

  • As we played, we decided on some “house rules” in case you want to add them to yours:
  • When you double on your turn, you still get a turn
  • You must get rid of your hand to win (this is only for 4 or fewer players)
  • No pointing/no table talk or you get an additional card
  • Doubles are allowed when someone else is doing an infinite
  • You have to draw a card if someone mispronounces a spell

So, there you have it. Sparkle*Kitty‘s like a mixed bag of magic—fun and quirky with a few bumps along the way. But hey, isn’t that what makes it so spellbinding?
